Major Project Accomplishments
LACMTA - Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Phase 2A

The Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority (Construction Authority), an independent agency was created in 1998 by the California State Legislature. The authority was created specifically to address the planning, designing and construction of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) Gold Line from Los Angeles to Pasadena which was completed in 2003. Since then further extensions have been planned with the ultimate goal of reaching Ontario Airport in 2019. This project will address the 11.5 mile segment from Pasadena to Azusa.
The extension of the Gold Line will occupy a portion of previously abandoned Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) trackage now owned and operated by Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA). Within the project limits of Phase 2A there will be six at-grade crossings with movement on freight and light rail tracks. Each of these crossings will have improved Automatic Highway Warning Systems (AHWS) to further enhance the safety of the public. Design is also being implemented to improve upon the existing Automatic Block System present today.
- Design-Build Contract.
- Interfacing of freight and light rail crossing systems.
- Working with Authority to meet railroad signal standards.
